Under Armour Game Thoughts

Unfortunately the Under Armour Game was basically the 'Future Gator Players' game. As much as it sucks, its the truth. The only uncommitted prospect the Canes had a chance at (DE-D.Easley), choose the Gators out of nowhere. Future Gators, Dowling and Dorsey, straight up balled out from the safety position. Prospects seem to choose the present 'hot' teams, whether there are coaching changes or not. Even FSU has a nice recruiting class set up, which baffles me, and all I can think of is that their tradition and location is helping them out. The Canes recruiting class isnt bad, but its not great. But what Randy Shannon IS doing is building depth at positions of need. This is why we had 2 offensive linemen in the Under Armour game. And if you watched the Canes bowl game, the OL had a huge part in that loss. Randy doesn't look at star ratings when it comes to recruiting, as he has stated, he knows the South Florida kids and coaches much better than his counterparts. But what says our 18 '3 star' recruits dont turn into 5 stars by the end of their first year? I mean yes their chances may be smaller than someone that is already labeled a '5 star', but dont count em out. I've seen numberous 5 star busts. Anyway, stay tuned as I will update any recruiting news that I hear. Btw National Signing Day is Feb. 3rd, only a month away. Randy better get to it!

• Future Miami running back Storm Johnson didn't have much room to roam on Saturday, but continued to show his vision, quick feet in the hole and acceleration. He was the game's leading rusher with 30 yards on seven carries. Look for Johnson to play early and often for the Hurricanes next year.
